SUMMARY:DSQ Quartet Institute Concert & Special Event
DESCRIPTION:This unique event will feature a concert by the participants and faculty of the DaPonte String Quartet Institute 2024.  It will include a brief demonstration of rehearsal techniques we’ve shared during our week together.  There will also be a reception during which you can meet this year’s participants. \nThe program will begin with a few movements of Beethoven String Quartet in C# Minor\, Op. 131 performed by Institute participants.  It will conclude with Schubert’s great Cello Quintet  played by the DSQ and our guest faculty cellist\, Scott Kluksdahl. \nThere is no admission\, but we ask that you reserve your ticket to help us get an idea of audience size.  Donations for our Institute program are gratefully accepted at the door\, or you can donate through our website when you reserve your ticket\, https://dapontequartet.org/tickets/ \nLinden Tree Meetinghouse is located at 10 Church Lane in Phippsburg.

While a student at the New England Conservatory Hodgkinson became grand prizewinner of the International American Music Competition sponsored by Carnegie Hall and the Rockefeller Foundation. He has performed with orchestras in Atlanta\, Philadelphia\, Buffalo\, Boston\, Cleveland and abroad in Italy and Iceland\, and also numerous recital programs spanning the repertoire from J.S. Bach to Donald Martino.  A frequent guest of the Boston Symphony Chamber Players\, he also performs the four-hand and two-piano repertoire with his wife\, Leslie Amper. Festival appearances include Ravinia\, Bargemusic\, Chestnut Hill Concerts in Madison Connecticut\, Seattle Chamber Music Festival\, and Chamber Music Northwest (Portland\, OR). Solo recordings on the Ongaku\, New World\, and Albany labels  have garnered much critical acclaim.  Mr. Hodgkinson is on the faculties of the New England Conservatory of Music and Wellesley College and is a certified Feldenkrais Practitioner™.
